The Obsidian Story.
Obsidian Software -- a private company -- was founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas, by three processor verification engineers.
Convinced that there was a growing need for a commercial processor verification tool that could outperform internally developed random test generators, the founders created a flexible verification solution powered by a knowledge engine that's fully aware of complex interactions between components and features of a core processor.
Many of the world's leading semiconductor companies -- using both proprietary and licensable IP architectures to design their microprocessors -- have leveraged Obsidian Software's RAVEN suite to improve processor designs and minimize the number of manufacturing spins.
In 2003, Obsidian Software was named to the Inc 500 and to Austin Business Journal's Fast50.
Today, Obsidian offers three variants of its RAVEN verification software:
- RAVEN SE for licensable IP cores
- RAVEN GCS for proprietary processors
- RAVEN PD for processors designed using the CoWare tool set..
