Up to three national and international awards for one of the Obsidian researchers

In recent months, PhD Alejandro Ramos, one of the researchers involved in the development of Obsidian, has received three awards, one international and two national.

The most relevant one, granted by the European Society for Logic and Fuzzy Technologies (EUSFLAT), with which it annually recognizes the most outstanding doctoral work in Europe.

With the aim of “recognizing research excellence in a Europe understood in its broadest sense”, the General Assembly of the EUSFLAT approved in July 2011 the creation of the Best PhD Thesis Award. Since then, only 5 new doctors have received this recognition, delivered every two years.

On November 13, in Warsaw, Alejandro Ramos picked up this award from the president of EUSFLAT, Gabriella Pasi, who acknowledged the contributions of his PhD Thesis, mainly in the application of fuzzy logic techniques to the automatic generation of natural language.

This award joins that received, also by Alejandro Ramos, of the Scientific Information Society of Spain (SCIE) and the BBVA Foundation.

In the first edition of the Research Awards granted by the SCIE and the BBVA Foundation, six prizes have been awarded to young researchers for contributing to the scientific and technological development of Spain through the promotion of research and innovation.

The awards “recognize the creativity, originality and excellence” of the young doctors, “and they intend to serve as a stimulus for them to continue with their research work”, as explained in the bases.
